Cavenago d'Adda

Cavenago d'Adda is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Lodi in the Italian region Lombardy, located about southeast of Milan and about southeast of Lodi. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,200 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕
The municipality of Cavenago d'Adda contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caviaga and Soltarico.
Cavenago d'Adda borders the following municipalities: Corte Palasio, Abbadia Cerreto, Casaletto Ceredano, Credera Rubbiano, San Martino in Strada, Turano Lodigiano, Mairago, Ossago Lodigiano.
== History ==
Already populated in Roman times, Cavenago d'Adda belonged to the bishop of Lodi (10th century), and was later a fief of the family of Fissiraga (1297–1482), the Bocconi of Mozzanica, and finally of the Cavenaghi Clerici. Included the population of Persia.
In the Napoleonic era (1809–16) was attached to the municipality of Cavenago Robecco again become independent with the constitution of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto.
In 1863 he assumed the official name of Cavenago Cavenago d'Adda (), to distinguish itself from Cavenago of Brianza.
In 1869 the municipality of Cavenago d'Adda were aggregated and common Caviaga Soltarico ().
In 1937 the population of Persia, passed some time on the right bank of the Adda in response to a flood, was assigned to the municipality of Casaletto Ceredano.
After the Second World War, in the hamlet of Caviaga were discovered by AGIP important reserves of natural gas.
